Sorry I'm late. I saw the notification for this post, when it dropped, but was busy or didn't have not enough bandwidth to read and listen the recs. So I'm reading your July wrap up in second half of October 😅
Your words 'acquatic feminine energy' for Twice's album piqued my interest and based on the previews I think I might like a few of these songs well. Made a note to listen.
NCT 127 I have a silly story for. For a very long time I thought that there's only NCT Dream, and NCT 127 is a fan joke on the number of the whole NCT, as in they'll soon be 127 members 😆
Anyways I don't click with their titles usually, but tend to find something for me in second half of the album. This time Time Capsule and Can't Help Myself seem to have the sound that I enjoy.
I was briefly confused when you mentioned Jimin in your intro, wondering if he isn't serving then. But pre-made album is really cool gift for fans to ease the wait.
Jimin's voice is so unique. I think I'll check the album out and I liked the sound of Who preview.
At your The Boyz section I thought, our taste in kpop is wildly different, but I enjoy reading your thoughts. The songs that I made note of to check out are the softer ones again, Square One, Forever You, Nothing Without You.
I was wondering if in case big fandoms turn toxic, whether not engaging with the fandom at all is an option. Or how much do you engage with the fandoms at all, online?
Oh don't worry for not reading it or commenting earlier!! I'm just as happy to receive a response to something I write later 🤗
I hope you enjoy all the tracks that piqued your interest in this batch! 💜 Let me know at any time if you find a favorite, I'll be happy to hear about it!
Omg the story about NCT 127 is so funny and it could just as well be true, there are sooo many members 😂
I noticed that we have pretty different tastes in kpop! I mostly listen to songs that are very groovy/high energy/explosive/aggressive, or heavy on hiphop, or are dance tracks, or sultry R&B. There are exceptions, of course, but usually I need the higher BPM or a certain feel in songs to keep my brain occupied. I love hearing about these differences in taste though!
I actually try to engage as little as possible with the fandoms I'm part of online but then I'm always out of the loop so I have to choose between two options, neither of which is good. I don't really comment anywhere or get in arguments with people but just reading posts weighs heavily on my mind. But I also hate not being up to date with what's going on with my favorite groups or just in the kpop realm as a whole 😕 And now that I'm writing this blog and hoping it one day will have a bigger audience will inevitably mean being more involved. So I'm not sure there is a good solution for me!
I'm currently listening to TWICE's album from those I made note of.
I think I do like higher BPM too, but on the happy bright side. Hence ONF's many title tracks are a good match for me.
Yeah. All the arguments and futile fights online are difficult. I don't think I've seen a lot of such in Fuseland, but there's still comments that bother me and make me turn off the cursed bird-app.
Regarding this blog and audience, then you are the queen here, which means you set the tone of discussions. I think you'll attract like-minded people, whether your taste in music is similar or not. But also, if anyone ever misbehaves, do not hesitate to call them out on it politely but firlmy. Set your boundaries.
I do love ONF's bright and refreshing songs a lot too! They're the kings of that genre 💜
You're lucky if your fandom is mostly free of drama. Mine are sadly very combative 😣 It's especially hard as someone who's a multistan and takes it very seriously. When I see the fandom of one of my ult groups talk trash about my other ult group, I feel like I never want to go online again, it just hurts a lot 💔
You're right though, I guess I make the rules in this space so even if my audience one day gets bigger, hopefully I can keep it free of toxicity. But it's also true that the kind of content I'm writing here would only appeal to like-minded fans.
Yeah, I can imagine how bad it can be to see such trashing. I honestly never even understand why people do that, like focus on your own faves.. if the only way to uplift a group is to trash someone else.. then that's not a very good job those fans are doing, or maybe the intent is just to get attention with such trolling. I don't know. It's definitely difficult.
I honestly hate how prevalent it is in kpop fandoms to try to raise your favorite by talking crap about other groups/artists. You can't go through a comment section without seeing at least five people doing it.
Oh, and it's especially ridiculous when it's a well-known fact that the members of the groups in question are friends but the fans hate and attack each other 🙃
Same, I also feel by trashing others, those fans.. they're actually dimnishing their own group as well. Like is there's nothing good to say about their own fave group's music, work, members, instead of saying bad things about someone else. And it always baffles me how much energy people are willing to put into hating on something.
Yeah, and not like idols don't see what's happening online. They're not isolated from it all at all.
